    Tech Talk: COLORado Solo Edge

In this Tech Talk, Senior Product Development Manager Brett Haynes introduces the COLORado Solo Edge, a fixture designed specifically for one of the most challenging areas to light: the front of the stage.

This is where performers step forward, where cameras get close, and where any inconsistency in lighting becomes immediately noticeable. The COLORado Solo Edge is built to solve those challenges with smooth, natural output that keeps skin tones clean and consistent, without harsh shadows or color shifts.

Designed as a dedicated touring footlight, it features a low-profile, IP65-rated build that stands up to life on the stage edge while staying visually unobtrusive. A built-in stealth filter helps the fixture disappear when not in use, keeping the audience’s focus exactly where it belongs.

Additional thoughtful details, like hidden cabling and DMX-controlled marker lights for cueing performers, make it as practical as it is refined.

At its core, the COLORado Solo Edge is about removing distractions and delivering reliable, high-quality light, right where the performance matters most.

    MEET THE GEAR:

This low-profile 1-meter IP65-rated RGBwWL LED footlight projects high-quality white light and a full range of color through a single-source lens designed to produce smooth, even output. Featuring fully-controllable RGB marker lights that can be used to cue talent or mark the edge of a stage, seamless end-to-end alignment, and a covered display, this elegant fixture also comes with a stealth filter that enables it to disappear when off.

Key Enhancements to EPIX Drive 4 IP

In this episode of Light Snacks, we take a closer look at the key enhancements to the EPIX Drive 4 IP.

The most noticeable upgrade is the new full-color display paired with a rotary encoder. This streamlined interface makes it easy to navigate settings, view port modes, monitor capacity, and check connected fixtures at a glance. Built-in discovery automatically detects fixtures across all ports and sets power mode, saving valuable setup time.

Users can also access onboard test patterns, output control, and simple mapping tools directly from the menu, reducing the need for external configuration during prep.

    MEET THE GEAR:

On the connectivity side, three etherCON ports enable Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol, allowing for redundant network paths and greater system reliability. Combined with IP65-rated construction, protective port caps, and multiple mounting options including omega bracket compatibility and included rack ears, the driver is ready for touring, installation, and outdoor applications.

STRIKE Array Ultra: Rigging Features and Motorized Sweeps

Along with the pins and tabs that are universally compatible across the STRIKE Array family, STRIKE Array Ultra comes with a removable yoke that easily pops on/off as needed, and allows for using one or two Omega brackets for hanging in whatever orientation best suits your rig.

In this episode of Light Snacks, Brad Haynes, Senior Product Development Manager, demonstrates the rigging features that add up to a wide variety of mounting options when building custom configurations with STRIKE Array Ultra.

Unique to STRIKE Array Ultra in the STRIKE family is the motorized pod that can be oriented in any way you wish – offering either pan or tilt movement – depending on how the fixture is flown.

The possibilities this opens up include stacking STRIKE Array Ultra fixtures in opposing orientations to create both pan and tilt sweeps from one blinder array configuration.

    MEET THE GEAR:

STRIKE Array Ultra is a next-generation IP65 audience blinder that pairs a powerful RGBA-WW engine with a distinctive RGB halo ring for bold, camera-ready looks. Its high-CRI calibrated whites and filter option deliver natural skin tones and rich color on camera, while a single motorized movement axis that functions as pan or tilt, along with broadcast-optimized dimming, transforms classic blinder punch into a flexible, dynamic effects platform. Built to integrate seamlessly with other STRIKE Array and STRIKE Bolt fixtures, it scales effortlessly from clubs to full festival and broadcast rigs.

STRIKE Array Ultra: Visual Effects Modifiers and Custom Configurations

As with all members of the STRIKE Array family, STRIKE Array Ultra is designed to be stackable, scalable and packed with versatile rigging options that allow you to easily create unique interconnected strobe/blinder configurations together with STRIKE Bolt 1C and STRIKE Array fixtures.

In this episode of Light Snacks, Senior Product Development Manager Brad Haynes demonstrates how to build custom blinders as well as accessorize STRIKE Array Ultra.

“I’m going to take the new STRIKE Array Ultra and show you how I mount it with the STRIKE Array 2C. I just pull out the pins, clips snap up, and then I can easily place the Array 2C into the same mounting holes, put the pin back in, and then my mounting from the top stays the same, whether I want to use an Omega bracket with the yoke or continue stacking. I could expand vertically, as well as horizontally, to build whatever custom blinder configuration I’m looking for.”

Visual effect modifiers in the form of optional accessory lenses are another way to customize your STRIKE Array Ultra, enabling a variety of different on-camera looks, from a Fauxnel lens for direct-view fresnel emulation to a full hemispheric Translucent Dome for eye candy applications.

Maverick Force X: Engineered for the fastest sensors, cameras and displays

Maverick Force X fixtures are compact, high-output tools built for professionals who need speed, flexibility, and broadcast-ready reliability.

65kHz Pulse Width Modulation frequency settings come standard on both Maverick Force X Spot and Force X Profile. Typically, with previous technologies, such a high PWM frequency would result in steppy dimming on the low end.

In this episode of Light Snacks, Senior Product Manager Michael Graham demos the 65kHz PWM dimming that enables Force X to deliver flicker-free performance with nearly any camera, including those with the fastest frame rates, while still maintaining fantastic dimming.

WATCH our series of Maverick Force X dimming tests for yourself, as the fixtures fade evenly to black from full output over ten seconds and then come back up just as evenly to full over five seconds.

In the final demonstration of critical bottom-end dimming performance, Force X dims from 10% to 0% output over ten seconds to land on a flawless fadeout.
