Maverick Storm 1 Hybrid and STRIKE combine for bold colors and punchy beams at Bonnaroo 2024

Maverick Storm 1 Hybrid made its Bonnaroo debut on two identically rigged stages that both took full advantage of its CMY color mixing system capable of delivering the boldest saturated primary colors (and a truly fantastic red).

The aptly named This Tent and That Tent stages, with their triangular tent ceilings, provided the geometry, while the combination of Storm and STRIKE fixtures provided the ability to alternate complementary color changes and create dramatic moments of blinding white light and dark silhouetted looks.

Hybrid versatility was on full display as Maverick Storm 1 Hybrid served up a variety of beam, spot and wash looks, shifting deftly between its beam and spot modes to deliver focused beams, crisp spots and deep heavy frost color fills.

The 180° tilt range of Color STRIKE M helped to shape bright saturated color washes that provided a sense of visual depth to the relatively narrow tent configurations of these two Bonnaroo stages.

STRIKE Array 2 audience blinders delivered peak drama with intense warm white chases and emulated tungsten dimming effects across the front of the truss topping the rig with a vertex that matched the pitched roof.

Production for This Tent and That Tent provided by Harford Sound and Rock The House Entertainment, who once again brought their production know-how and creative artistry to Bonnaroo.

Inspecting the Gore Valve on CHAUVET Professional IP65 Rated Fixtures

Gore valves are what enable our IP65-rated fixtures to maintain their seal against the elements while also allowing them to breathe in order to equalize pressure and reduce condensation.

Product Resource & Experience Manager Brad Haynes explains the importance (and ease) of removing the Gore valve to inspect for signs of debris or clogging, allowing them to breathe in order to equalize pressure and reduce condensation.

We have created a step-by-step video tutorial that explains the software updating process:

Light Snacks: Maverick Moving Heads Software Update with a USB

    link: https://youtu.be/NciHzI4G9Y4

As soon as you put your USB stick into the fixture the LED display will prompt you to confirm the USB update. Say “YES.” The fixture will select the right software – and then confirm the update again. “YES.” The screen will go blank with a message at the bottom showing “Update in progress. Please wait.”

DO NOT TURN THE FIXTURE OFF.

Once the update is complete the LED display will show you the USB update screen and you can remove the USB stick. The LED screen will confirm the USB has been disconnected. Go back to your Main Menu screen.

If you want to confirm that the correct software has been updated you can navigate menu options to check the version number of the software. If it matches the software version for your intended update, you’re good to go.

IP65 Power Cable Management with PowerStream 4 IP

Whatever the weather brings, PowerStream 4 IP has got you covered, safely distributing available power wherever and whenever you need it.

The original PowerStream 4 provided a practical powerCON-compatible solution for using your circuit power more efficiently on your rigs. With the arrival of PowerStream 4 IP, you now have all the benefits of power-splitting plus an IP65-rated design that takes advantage of the complete interchangeability of PowerKon and TRUE1 style IP65 connectors.

As we know, these 20A locking mains connectors are designed with breaking capacity, in order to connect under load or live. Hot plugging into PowerStream 4 IP is no problem and gives you safe and immediate access to power in the rig.

Let’s do a quick run through the other benefits of this useful device:

Rigging: The main benefit of deploying PowerStream 4 IP in the main power feed is that it helps reduce the need for additional cables, but its design also makes rigging a breeze. PowerStream 4 IP was designed with production rental houses in mind and comes with multiple rigging options for hanging in your rig. Easily clamp mount to truss with its M12 threaded insert and safely secure by attaching safety cable to its built-in rail.

One thing you’ll need to remember: if you’re not using a connection on PowerStream 4 IP, be sure to close its cover in order to maintain its IP65 characteristics. And the one thing to never forget: Always do the math. Make sure to allow some overhead when calculating the total power draw from your fixtures so that you don’t exceed rated amperages. Keep that in mind and this ingenious IP65-rated power distribution box will keep you covered when it comes to keeping your cable runs efficient and your gear safely rigged and powered.

Maverick Silens 2 Profile Wins PLASA 2021 Award For Innovation

LONDON – The Maverick Silens 2 Profile doesn’t attract attention to itself because of its sound; the 100-percent convection cooled LED PCB fixture operates in virtual silence. However, the versatile 560W luminaire did make waves recently when it was honored with a 2021 PLASA Award For Innovation

The only moving fixture (and one of two lighting products) to earn this recognition at the PLASA show, the Maverick Silens 2 Profile was singled out for its “near silent operation,” being described by the independent panel of judges as “the sound engineer’s favorite light.”

Without making a sound, the Maverick Silens 2 Profile wowed judges with its impressive visual performance, thanks to features like CMY+CTO colour mixing with CRI, R9, CQS, and TLCI all between 91 and 97 (depending on the colour temperature mixed). Other features that speak volumes about this silent powerhouse of a fixture include a four-blade framing shutter system with rotation, a colour wheel, animation wheel, a 10:1 zoom, prism, two frosts, static and rotating gobo wheels and 16-bit dimming with selectable red shift.

“Our entire team is very proud of this honor,” said Michael Brooksbank, managing director of Chauvet Europe. “Silence has always been a goal for everyone involved in lighting theatre, broadcasts, recitals and other applications where absolute quietness is essential. However, no one could be expected to give up performance for the sake of silence. Now, with the Maverick Silens 2 Profile, they don’t have to – they can enjoy the best of both worlds.”

The 100-percent convection cooled LED PCB fixture is virtually silent, attracting no attention to itself in studios for live stream broadcasts, recital halls, theatres or other applications where absolute quietness is essential.

However, this 560W profile unit will be a standout performer as a lighting source, thanks to features like CMY+CTO color mixing with CRI, R9, CQS, and TLCI all between 91 and 97 (depending on the color temperature mixed). Other features that speak volumes about this silent powerhouse of a fixture include a four-blade framing shutter system with rotation, a color wheel, animation wheel, a 10:1 zoom, prism, two frosts, static and rotating gobo wheels, and 16-bit dimming with selectable red shift.

“We are especially proud of this fixture,” said Albert Chauvet, CEO of Chauvet. “All of what we’ve learned through our work with professional LED fixtures over the past 15 years has been poured into the Maverick Silens 2 Profile. Our goal was to create a first-of-its-kind silent LED fixture that not only matched, but surpassed, the performance of the standard profiles that proceeded it in terms of brightness, color rendering and versatility.”

The innovative design of the Maverick Silens 2 Profile features a doughnut shaped ring of white LEDs with an RGB LED in the center for toning (+/- green for on-camera use) and red-shift in dimming. Offering an impressive level of color rendering versatility, the fixture can create beautifully rich saturates, while also producing subtle pastels. Throughout the spectrum, the colors rendered are extremely realistic, as is evidenced by the fixture’s pure red tone with no trace of orange.

Combining high CRI LEDs with precision optics, the Maverick Silens 2 Profile has an output of over 11,000 lumens. With an optimal throw distance of 30-50 feet, the fixture is right at home in a variety of studio and stage applications. In all cases, it delivers smooth and even edge-to-edge coverage.

Thanks to its advanced engineering, the Maverick Silens 2 Profile offers an unprecedent level of accurate and detailed control in lighting applications. For example, its frost ranges from barely perceptible, all the way up to completely diffuse. Its + or – 60 degrees rotation framing shutter system supports a wide array of framing positions, while its 10:1 zoom covers 5-50 degree beam angles — and its fully wiping blades can create an assortment of shapes.

“There’s a wide variety of ways that quiet lights are used in various applications,” said Chauvet. “Designers shouldn’t have to sacrifice versatility for silence. With the Maverick Silens 2 Profile they don’t have to. Now they can have silence and more flexibility than ever.”

CHAUVET Professional Brings Sleekness to Cyc Lights With the New Ovation CYC 1 FC

SUNRISE, FL – The just-introduced Ovation CYC 1 FC from CHAUVET Professional is raising the bar by lowering the profile of cyc lights Thanks to its unique close-to-the-ground housing, this sleek and silent cyc light can be positioned unobtrusively on the stage, and in the broadcast studio.

Although its design is discrete and its operation quiet, there is nothing reticent about this convection cooled, RGBAL fixture’s output. With an illuminance of 173 lux at 5 meters, the CYC 1 FC ensures a wide, smooth coverage area, often allowing larger backdrops to be fully illuminated only from the ground, without the need for downlighting. What’s more, since its light source is so near the ground, it can wash backdrops without dark dead areas at the lower end.

The CYC 1 FC‘s low profile, silent operation, and high output make it invaluable, not just as a cyc light, but also a foot light, fill light and side light in a wide variety of applications. An in- built shutter acts like a barn door, cutting the beam to reduce glare. An integrated kick stand adds to the fixture’s versatility.

Drawing on Ovation’s award-winning RGBAL color-mixing technology, the CYC 1 FC produces virtually any hue with the utmost realism and saturation. A virtual color wheel in the unit matches popular gel colors and color temperature pre-sets. The fixture also features 16 bit dimming of the master dimmer and individual colors.

The adjustable Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) feature in the fixture ensures that its flat, even field of light is never disturbed by flickering on camera. This attribute, together with its silent, completely convection cooled operation, make the CYC 1 FC ideally suited for broadcast applications.

“We have always pushed the envelope with new concepts in our Ovation products,” said Albert Chauvet, CEO of Chauvet. “With the CYC 1 FC, we feel we have done that again with cyc lights.
